If you're searching for sex dolls online, chances are you are using the term 'inflatable doll' or 'blowup doll'.
These two terms have been around for a while now, probably a few decades although the idea of recreating a perfect human being in form of a doll is as ancient as fire. It is probably time to switch to a new term: sex doll.
Sex Dolls explained
According to Wikipedia, a sex doll (also love doll or blowup doll) is a type of sex toy in the size and shape of a sexual partner for aid in masturbation. The sex doll may consist of an entire body with face, or just a head, pelvis or other partial body, with the accessories (vagina, anus, mouth, penis) for sexual stimulation. The parts are sometimes vibrating and may be removable or interchangeable. Sex dolls exist in many forms, but are distinguished from sex robots, which are anthropomorphic creations designed to be able to exhibit more complex interactions.
Some of the first sex dolls were invented by Dutch sailors in the seventeenth century who would be isolated at sea during long voyages. These masturbatory dolls, referred to by the French as dame de voyage and by the Spanish as dama de viaje, were made of sewn cloth or old clothes and were a direct predecessor to today's sex dolls. The Dutch sold some of these dolls to Japanese people during the Rangaku period, and the term "Dutch wives" is still sometimes used in Japan to refer to sex dolls.
Sex Dolls and Sex Robots
In June 2006, Henrik Christensen of the European Robotics Research Network told the UK's Sunday Times that "people are going to be having sex with robots within five years. (LOL). As we are writing this, it is now AD 2018 and there is no sign of robots taking over, yet...
But we can definitely notice hysteric vibes all over the planet. The fear of walking, talking and moving sex dolls is real. Reacting to the ongoing development of "sex robots" or "sexbots", in September 2015, Kathleen Richardson of De Montfort University and Erik Billing of the University of Skövde created the Campaign Against Sex Robots, calling for a ban on the creation of anthropomorphic sex robots. They argue that the introduction of such devices would be socially harmful, and demeaning to women and children.
The sex doll revolution is happening already. Our sophisticated sex dolls already beat the hologram, so what about the next 10 or 20 years?
We honestly don't believe the sex dolls will take over the planet. We don't think the AI Sex Dolls will be a reality very soon.
But the fact that there is a demand and interest clearly proves that a sex doll is already a part of our modern reality. Where blowup dolls and inflatable dolls were mostly just fun and giggles, new generation love dolls can actually play an important role in the evolution or modern society, whether we support it or not.
Sex Dolls and Sexual Freedom
According to The Woodhull Freedom Foundation, an organization committed to advocating on behalf of sexual freedom, 'sexual freedom lies at the heart of human dignity, equality, and civil liberties embodied in both the U.S. Constitution and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Sexual freedom is the emancipation of sexual expression from arbitrary shackles prescribed by tradition – and sometimes even by law. Expression often shunned and ruled against includes celibacy, non-marriage, open discussion of human sexuality in public forums, and community living. Sexual freedom is the license to lawfully live with and love whom you want, when you want, and how you want without social, political, medical or cultural persecution. Sexual freedom flows from the belief that human sexuality cannot be prescribed or legislated, and is a natural, fundamental and precious aspect of life. Too often suppressed under the weight of societal mores, norms, and inherited tradition, sexual freedom deserves attention and validation. When we embrace sexual freedom, we embrace human rights as a whole. Only then can we truly acknowledge, protect, and celebrate the unique individuality of every being.'
The above definition surely poses some significant and important questions about the extent of the sexual freedom in the context of sex dolls. We're open up for a debate. Join us in Twitter and leave a comment. Let us know what you think.
